Produced Water Treatment Project – Phase I

Project Details

Title: Produced Water Treatment Project – Phase I

Client: Aveon Offshore Limited / Heritage Energy Operational Services Ltd HEOSL

Location: Niger Delta, Nigeria.

Date: 2024

description

OML 30 is situated in the onshore Niger delta. The licence covers approximately 1,095 square km located about 35km East of Warri in great Ughelli depobelt and contains nine fields; Afiesere, Eriemu, Evwreni, Oweh, Olomoro-Oleh, Kokori, Oroni, Uzere West and Osioka. Fields straddling the licence boundary are Osioka and Uzere.

OML 30 has five Gas Lift Compression facilities; Afiesere, Kokori, Uzere, Evwreni and Olomoro-Oleh (Olog I & II), and six NGC Compression Stations (Currently non- operational); Afiesere Eriemu, Kokori, Oweh, Olomoro-Oleh and Uzere. The gas produced from the OML 30 is currently used for gas lifting, fuel and utility gas. The excess is flared.

Liquid (both oil and water) from the flow-stations within OML 30, as wells production from OML 26, OML 34 and OML 56 is gathered at Ughelli Pumping Station (UPS). Currently, no processing is undertaken at UPS. Water and crude oil is pumped directly to the Forcados Terminal, for de-hydration and export of the oil. Crude oil from the UPS is also sent to Water Refinery. Dehydration of the oil being sent to the refinery is via the four setting / storage tanks at the UPS. Each of the storage tanks has a holding capacity of 240,000 bbl.

Heritage Energy and Oil Services Limited (HEOSL), Operator of OML 30, on behalf of the joint venture partners, embarked on the development of the produced water treatment and crude oil dehydration project to achieve three key objectives:

  • Reduce spent on fluid handling tariff being paid to Forcados Terminal operator (OPEX)
  • Enhance crude storage capacity of the UPS, thus enabling OML 30 production target of net oil of 200,000 BPD by 2020.
  • Increase crude oil handling capacity of the Trans Forcados Pipeline (TFP)

The project will also enable other secondary benefits, such as reducing corrosion of the TFP. Due to urgency of the matter, it has been decided to proceed the project in two phases as follows: Phase 1: Temporary produced water treatment and injection facilities installation with 75,000 BPD capacity Phase 2: Permanent facilities installation for crude dehydration and produced water treatment / injection with 200,000 BPD capacity.
