Details

This is a 3-day introductory level course that emphasizes the basic aspects of main commercial process simulators. Course focus is on reaching a working knowledge of all necessary techniques to build unit operations and simple flowsheet models. Properties, heat transfer, distillation columns, compressors, pumps, and pipelines are among the topics covered in this course.

  • New engineering graduates/technologists who will be using Aspen HYSYS in their daily work.
  • Process engineers who need advanced skills for more complex modelling tasks.
  • Research and development (R&D) engineers and researchers using Aspen HYSYS for process synthesis, upgrades, or modifications.
  • Process engineers doing process design and optimization studies.
  • Plant engineers checking plant performance under different operating conditions.
  • Engineers with Aspen HYSYS experience.
  • Non-Engineers / Engineers with no or limited previous experience in process simulation.

At the end of this course, you will know how to:

  • Build, navigate, and optimize process simulations using Aspen HYSYS.
  • Evaluate the performance of existing equipment, improve the convergence performance of a simulation as well as troubleshoot common issues.
  • Model unit operations such as distillation columns, heat exchangers, separators, and rotating equipment.
  • Use oil characterization for crude assays.
  • Perform case studies to determine the optimum operating point for a process.
  • Use the pipeline hydraulics capabilities

Mr. Abdulmalik Ahmed is a process engineer, with extensive experience in engineering design. He has experience in engineering projects executed within the oil and gas industry which include conceptual studies, Front End Engineering Design (FEED), Detailed Engineering Design (DED), facility de-bottle necking and information management in onshore, offshore, and floating facilities. He has also engaged in several field exercises for information gathering and technical problems supports

He is proficient in the use of Hysys for process simulations and blowdown analysis, Pipesim for steady state flow assurance studies, Flaresim for flare radiation studies, PHAST for Flare/Vent dispersion studies, Flarenet for flare system network analysis as well as IPRSM (Intelligent Pressure Relief System Management), AutoCAD, Navisworks and Microsoft Visio.
