Fundamentals of Pump and Compressor Systems

DURATION: 3 Days

INSTRUCTOR: Mr. Ahmad Emadi

STATUSCOMING SOON

Details

This is an intensive 3-day course providing a comprehensive overview of pump and compressor systems. The focus is on equipment selection – type, unit, and station configuration; and the integration of these units in the process scheme and control strategy of upstream oil, midstream oil and gas facilities. The material of the course is applicable to field production facilities, pipelines, gas plants, and offshore systems.

Engineers, senior technicians, and system operators responsible for designing, operating, and maintaining pump and compressor systems in oil and gas facilities.

At the end of this course, you should be able to:

  • Select the appropriate integrated pump and compressors units (drivers, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary systems).
  • Integrate the pump or compressor units with the upstream and downstream piping and process equipment.
  • Evaluate pump and compressor units, and their drivers in multiple train configurations – parallel and series.
  • Identify the key local and remote-control elements of pumps and compressors, as well as their drivers.
  • Define the major life-cycle events such as changes in flow, fluid composition, and operating conditions that can affect equipment selection and operating strategies.
  • Assess the key pump hydraulics and compressor thermodynamics, and their effect on selection and operation.
  • Identify significant operating condition monitoring parameters and troubleshooting techniques.

Mr. Ahmad Emadi is an IChemE Fellow and Lead/Principal Process Engineer with more than 18 years of engineering design experience in international consultant engineering companies such Technip, Jacobs, WorleyParsons, KBR, Uhde, WoodGroup PSN, and Hyundai in different engineering stages (Basic & FEED, Detail Design, Pre-commissioning, Commissioning) as well as in operations. Ahmad has got a unique experience in diverse plants: FPSO, offshore platforms, onshore gas plants, compressor stations and multi-phase pipelines.
Ahmad has worked for the top Oil & Gas operator companies in the world: Shell, ExxonMobil, TOTAL, Chevron, BP, BG, BHP Billiton, and Eni, through different projects over his 18-year experience. These opportunities have enabled him to select and adopt the optimum design for each specific equipment in the Oil & Gas plant as per client specification and requirement.
Ahmad is also a part time lecturer in Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) and delivers a number of training courses for the RMIT Chemical Engineering students.
