A Seplat owned Gas Processing Facility located in Sapele is to be replaced with an efficient Gas Processing Plant that meets WAGP specifications, provide a liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) recovery system and a Condensate Stabilization system. This has necessitated the design of a Propane and LPG storage and loading facility. The plan is to integrate the LPG/Propane storage and loading facility into the ongoing DED (Detailed Engineering Design) for the new Sapele Gas Plant as a solution to support flare-out and evacuation of Propane and LPG produced in the new Sapele Gas Plant.
The Propane and LPG storage vessels at the Sapele storage facility will allow for a holding area and provide a trucking station. About ten (10) days of on-site product storage has been considered for the storage facility. Off-Spec. Propane and LPG modules have been added in the facility. Off-Spec. propane product is collected in the Off-Spec. Propane Storage and recycled back to the Sapele Gas Plant.
Off-Spec. LPG product is collected in the LPG Product Storage and recycled back to the Sapele Gas Plant. The new Sapele Gas Plant DED has established optimum Propane and LPG production which needs to be evacuated. Consequently, Engineering Design will be carried out for the LPG/Propane Storage and Loading Facility. An odorant (Ethyl Mercaptan) injection is introduced into the commercial propane and LPG products during loading operation to give a distinctive smell which will be readily noticed when a small amount of unburned gas is escaping or has escaped.
