The Metering Station has been in operations for over 30 years. No major overhaul/upgrade of the station has taken place since commissioning.
NGC intends to carry out rehabilitation/upgrade of the station in view of the development of gas infrastructures and growing demand for natural gas in the country. A FEED project has been carried out to define baseline specification, detailed scope of works, etc. to progress the rehabilitation/upgrade works and develop detailed engineering deliverables necessary to actualize the Procurement, Construction and Installation Works.
The Station was designed for a pressure of 100 barg with supplies from 2 inlet sources, namely 18” inlet line from NGC Oben Metering Station and 16” inlet line from Sapele west.
The station is currently facing the following challenges:
- Existing scrubbers are over 30 years old in operation and vessel mechanical integrity needs to be checked.
- Facility is controlled manually and thus the need to be automated
- Inlet and Outlet ESDVs needs to be automated
- Control room is not available. There is a need for new up-to-date control room
- Barton Meters on the Metering Skids is malfunctioning
- Existing condensate tank design is not adequate
