The current production from the Ogbele field which is circa 15kbopd is evacuated through a 6” x 7km Crude oil pipeline that runs from the Ogbele Flowstation to SPDC’s manifold in Rumuekpe, where it is injected into the SPDC Trans Niger Pipeline (TNP) after metering at Aradel’s LACT unit near the Rumuekpe manifold. The pipeline is also connected, with flexible hose connections from a valve station, about 4km from the Ogbele facility to marine vessels on water and for an alternative evacuation of crude oil through the Sombriero River, to the export terminal.
The 6” x 7km is currently the only pipeline on a 15m (wide) PROW from the Ogbele Flowstation to the LACT Unit in Rumuekpe, and the pipeline traverses about 5 communities with many host families. The PROW is on dry undulating land with a river crossing measuring about 100m in width. The PROW also traverses seasonal swamps and other all season swampy terrains measuring an estimated cumulative length of about 2.5km.
In recent times and to support the Alternative (marine) Crude Evacuation (ACE), Aradel has also constructed an unpaved but stabilized access road measuring about 6m x 4km along the PROW from the Ogbele facility to the ACE valve station.
Aradel exports crude oil at a maximum pressure of 500psi through the pipeline and pipeline overpressure protection system is provided at the Ogbele facility.
With impending growth in Aradel’s Crude oil production and export from the Ogbele field in the coming months, it is now planned to construct two additional pipeline(s) to improve evacuation capacities that matches the growth in crude oil production.
