The Oben Gas Plant comprises of an old 90 MMSCFD (2 Nos. x 45 MMSCFD) capacity JT (Joule Thompson) gas processing Modules which was expanded with the installation of additional 375 MMSCFD (5 Nos. X 75 MMSCFD) capacity processing Trains.
Seplat is committed to eliminating continuous flaring in all her facilities. Oben Gas Plant Facility is currently flaring with its major contributor being the condensate stabilizer off-gas which is rich in C3/C4 LPG components. It has become imperative to recover this rich off gas, monetize it and more importantly, achieve elimination of continuous flaring.
This has necessitated several ongoing efforts to close-out on the Oben Gas Plant continuous flaring activity. A Concept Validation/Selection Study for the achievement of Routine Flaring elimination solution from Oben Gas Plant has been carried out.

The Validation/Selection Study took cognizance of SEPLAT’s critical value drivers such as achieving elimination of continuous flaring with certainty and meeting a Project delivery timeline of Q4’ 2024, while achieving lowest Capital (CAPEX) outlay with minimum Implementation Complexity.
A number of concepts were analysed, with the most Technical, Economical and operationally feasible being the installation of a compression system and pipeline, that enables the use of Sapele Integrated Gas Processing Plant’s LPG Facility to eliminate routine flaring in Oben Gas processing Plant.
