OML 58 / OBAGI OB122 WHCP

Project Details

Title: OML 58 / OBAGI OB122 WHCP

Client: Aveon Offshore Limited / TotalEnergies

Location: Port Harcourt, Nigeria

Date: 2023

description

OML 58 is an onshore oil and natural gas facility located about 85 km Northwest of Port Harcourt. There are several oil & gas production wells at remote locations where supervision is minimal. As a result of this, local Wellhead Control Panels (WCP) are designed, installed, and configured to automatically shutting the production wells on the detection of abnormal condition such as loss of hydraulic control pressure.

There have been several reported trips of the OB122 gas production well in recent times. Investigations launched to determine the intermediate and remote causes of the trips revealed unsuitable pneumatic gas continuously dispatched to the WHCP to drive the pneumatic driven hydraulic pumps. The gas was observed to contain high amount of moisture which damages the pumps and results in the well shut in. This also has damaging effects on the SDVs and SSVs tied to the well in the long run.

Requirements are established for the design and installation of a gas scrubbing skid to avert these damaging effects on the WHCP and adjoining well devices as well as forestall further production shortfall.
