Escravos Gas Plant (EGP) Degasser Flares-out Project

Project Details

Title: Escravos Gas Plant (EGP) Degasser Flares-out Project

Client: Chevron Nigeria Limited

Location: Escravos Gas Plant, Offshore Lagos.

Date: 2022

description

Non-Associated Gas (NAG) Production into Escravos Gas Plant (EGP) contains approximately 32,000 bpd of condensate for processing. However, the Stabilizer (CondStab) system in EGP is designed to process 27,400 bpd while the Train 2 Fractionating system is designed for additional 4,000 bpd. The existing Fired Heater providing heat to the Condensate Stabilizer and the Condensate Debutanizer is bottlenecked and currently limiting each column from maintaining design throughput.

The current capacity of the CondStab is 20,000 bpd so, the system is bottlenecked for C5+ production. This increases the flowrate of the feed diverted into the Degasser and resultant flare. The overflow is routed from the MP Coalescer to the Degassing Vessel (in EGP) for Condensate Stabilization by routinely flaring C1–C4 at the degasser flare and routing C5/C6+ to storage. The Condensate Degasser currently flares between 3 to 10 MMSCFD of flashed gas. To mitigate the risk to incremental Condensate production above plant nameplate capacity this EGP Degasser Flares-out project will enable flares-out of approximately 3 – 10 MMSCFD of flashed gas.

As part of this project scope, fugitive flares from the EGP Emergency flare system will also be captured and processed along with the Degasser flares to ensure total routine flares-out in EGP.

The Project would implement flare capturing and recovery technology options for EGP, ensure compliance with the Nigerian Environmental Regulations and meet immediate capacity expectations. The project is aligned with the following Company strategic objectives:

  • Minimize operational impact to environment by reducing Greenhouse Gas (GhG) emissions
  • Meet Nigerian Government Flare and Vent Gas Regulations
  • Enabler for reusability of valuable energy from gas being flared.
